Disney+ decided to do a double release for Daredevil: Born Again on March 31st which was a very smart decision. Daredevil Born Again continues to prove itself among one of the best Marvel shows and Episode 3 is the standout so far this season.

Episode 2: “Shoot The Moon”
Spoiler Alert from episode 1, Poindexter is back and wants to revenge on Vanessa and Wilson. The episode starts with Daredevil becoming a symbol of resistance and Poindexter is looking for absolution. Wilson uses his platform as Mayor and leader of the AVTF (Anti-Vigilante Task Force) to make Matt Murdock a hero and missing person. This puts a target on his back, not only as Daredevil and himself. The AVTF is attacking all of those that oppose Wilson, not only vigilantes but those that live in lower income areas and those committing smaller crimes.
This episode focuses on Wilson’s plan for New York and making all of us hate the AVTF. Living in Minnesota, some of the events in this episode hit a little close to home. The allegory of current events are difficult to ignore. “Shoot The Moon” puts Daredevil on the bench for the majority of the episode with focusing on relationships at the core of the episode. The final scene of this episode starts to show how the difference in approach between Karen and Matt to deal with Wilson and AVTF.
Episode 3: “The Scales & The Sword”
We are here for Daredevil and this episode gives the fans what they want with great Daredevil action. As they learn how to deal with being the main target of the Mayor’s plan for New York, Karen and Matt start to see things differently. Karen is starting to act more like The Punisher with no remorse and no faith in the justice system. Although once Jacques Duquesne A.K.A Swordsman is found guilty in the first vigilante court case, its time for Matt and Karen to take the fight to Wilson.
Its not a Daredevil season unless we get a one-shot fight scene and we get a fantastic one in this episode. These two episodes being released on the same day makes sense because it would have been disappointing for only episode 2 to be released with minimum action compared to episode 3. Daredevil shows what he is willing to do to save the innocent, Karen is starting to show the influence of her time with Frank Castle, Wilson and his cabinet are starting to be paranoid with leaks and political challengers. Episode 3 is fantastic and gets us really excited for the future of the season.
Where was Mr. Charles? I missed the presence of Matthew Lillard. He was a scene stealer in the first episode. His character was never mentioned or seen in either episode. Episode 2 was pretty slow, not a bad way but it benefits from episode 3 being released the same day. Each episode does a great job at advancing the story and building up characters, with some incredible action in the third episode. Going to leave you with something that Angela said that is true in today’s society and feels like the theme of this season:
“Hard to be a hero these days.”
For the comic readers out there, don’t forget to pick up Daredevil #1 by Stephanie Phillips and Lee Garbett. As well as the new novel Enemy of My Enemy: A Daredevil Marvel Crime Novel by Alex Segura. Its a good time to be a Daredevil fan.
